Exploring Consent, Boundaries, and Relationships with Your Teen

A Virtual Workshop for Parents of Teens, Ages 13-17

This workshop is for parents who are seeking expert support from a licensed clinician about how to support their teen’s sexual and relational health, whether your teen is newly curious, has already started having relational experiences (harmful or otherwise), or has said a clear ‘no thank you’ to learning about sexual and relational health topics.*

Sophie Dykstra, LCSW-C, CSOTP, Assistant Clinical Director of Kindred Tree Healing Center, will facilitate this workshop. She is a psychotherapist, and a certified sex offender treatment professional who has an extensive background in working with youth with problematic sexual behavior.

During this workshop, the facilitator will provide psychoeducation on healthy sexual and relationship development for teens, including addressing systemic differences in risk and access associated with different identities. Participants will learn how to stay connected with their teens as they navigate more independent relationship experiences, to help them tackle challenging situations, identify or overcome risk and develop self-confidence.

In this workshop you will…
+ Identify what developmentally appropriate sexual behaviors and exploration looks like for this age group and review sexual health education content (ages 13-17)
+ Address risky behaviors and help your child develop safety practices and problem solving skills to handle challenging situations
+ Learn how to stay connected to your teen as they begin having more independent relationship experiences
+ Engage with other parents experiencing similar milestones and gain expertly vetted resources and strategies to support your teen

Roots & Reclamation: Healing Cultural Grief

On April 26th, join our own Vanessa Durrant for an insightful exploration of roots and reclamation at the event Invisible Loss and Disenfranchised Grief: Recognizing the Unseen Conference. Vanessa Durrant, MSW, LCSW-C, will lead a poignant session on cultural grief. This workshop will delve into the deep emotional impacts of displacement, loss of cultural traditions, and the personal struggle for belonging in an ever-changing global context. Participants will engage with Vanessa’s expert guidance through reflective discussions and experiential practices aimed at healing and reclaiming disrupted cultural identities. Drawing from her extensive background as an immigrant Latina holistic therapist, Vanessa offers a unique perspective on navigating the complex landscape of grief associated with cultural loss. This session promises to provide attendees with meaningful ways to honor their roots and foster reclamation in the context of personal and communal healing.
